Schools near Colerain adjust attendance areas
As the start of the new school year approaches, the Northwest Local School District, which serves students in Colerain and the surrounding area, is putting the finishing touches on several new buildings.
Along with the new school buildings, the district has also recently announced that attendance areas for the elementary schools have been adjusted.
The district is on schedule to open three new elementary schools this fall. To make sure that students are evenly distributed among what will be the district's five elementary schools, some changes were made to attendance areas for elementary school students. Students in the middle and high schools are not affected.
School districts that need to redistrict or adjust attendance areas can use print shops to create maps or charts showing what has changed.
According to officials from the Northwest Local School District, only a few students will be changing schools this fall. Some who live on the streets that have been redistricted have already requested a transfer or attend a school outside of the district.
Parents who want to send their child to one of the new schools, Taylor Elementary, can call Dustin Gehring at 513-923-1000, ext. 3907 to learn more about the process.
Ribbon cuttings for the three new schools have been scheduled for this month. The final ribbon cutting will take place at Struble Elementary school next Tuesday, August 14, at 6:00 pm.
