Road in Colerain to receive major overhaul

A large road project is currently underway in Colerain, meaning that motorist might have to seek alternative routes.

The county is currently in the process of rebuilding Pippin Road, one of the main north-south arterials roads in Colerain.

Currently, the project is focusing on a one-and-a-half-mile stretch of road between Springdale Road and Compton Road. Part of the roadway is closed between Adams Road and Wenning Road, as work is being completed on the installation of a new sewer.

When they undertake major projects that can affect people's lives and commutes, counties can use flyer printing to get the word out and to encourage people to find alternative ways of getting around. Knowing where current detours are will help people avoid frustration as they try to get around, and advanced notice about road closures will also allow people to add more time to their commutes if necessary.

The goal is to finish the current part of the road project by the end of March. At that point, the project will head north, and a new storm sewer will be installed at Springdale Road. The work on the sewer is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.

Once the sewers are in place, workers will focus on widening the road and improving the pavement.

Funding for the road overhaul is coming from a variety of sources, including grants and the Road and Bridge Fund maintained by the county. All in all, the entire project is expected to cost about $12m.
