What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

New affordable housing complex for older adults on the way for Colerain

Plans for a complex that will provide affordable housing for older adults in the Colerain area are one step closer to becoming a reality.

Tax credits offered by the state and granted to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) have helped to ensure that there will be adequate funding or the project. These Low Income Housing Tax Credits will be put towards the construction, which, if things go as planned, should be underway in 2016.

The facility is being built through a partnership between Colerain Township and the CMHA. It is hoped that it will provide a range of economic benefits for businesses in the surrounding community. Firms that provide printing services are one example of this. They may find themselves called upon to produce items such as signage, rental agreements, and other documents that are needed for the complex to run smoothly.

It is also felt that the housing will attract new people to the neighborhood and that they will patronize local shops, restaurants, and other businesses in the area, which will provide a boost to the economy.

The location for the new structure will be Jonrose, the end of which will be closed to accommodate it. The plans call for it have 58 one-bedroom units and also 12 that have two bedrooms. There will be a community theater room and space outdoors for recreation too.
