Free day camp returns to Colerain
It was a tear-filled vote at the most recent trustees meeting in Colerain Township.
The subject up for vote was whether or not to bring back a free day camp program for Colerain children between the ages of five and twelve.
All attending the meeting voted in favor of the plan. The result led Greg Insco, a trustee who had been a strong supporter of bringing back the free camp program, to tears. He told the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Townships that vote to reinstate programs can poster printing to let parents know of their options. The day camp program was eliminated back in 2013 because of budget cuts.
The camp will start on June 11 and run for six weeks, until July 27. It will take a break for the week of Independence Day, from July 2 through July 6. It will take place at Colerain Park from 9:00 am until 11:30 am Monday through Friday.
There will be enough space in the day camp for up to 75 children. Along with the free programming, which will include sports, crafts and games, there will inexpensive field trips four times during the summer. The field trips will be to nearby areas and will require the purchase of a Colerain Parks T-shirt, so that participating campers can be easily identified. The shirts cost $7.
