Colerain workshop to discuss op-eds
Colerain locals can improve their writing abilities by attending a virtual workshop in September taught by a professional writer.
The Cincinnati Public Library is organizing a program where people can receive advice from the library’s current writer-in-residence, Dani McClain. During the course, McClain will help attendees practice writing news analysis pieces and cover how to write compelling pitches to publishers. The program will be suitable for both an adult and teen audience. Organizations wanting to promote workshops like this can use poster printing to hang ads on public bulletin boards.
Dani McClain is an experienced writer for The Nation and has written past pieces for publications such as Talking Points Memo, The New York Times, Colorlines, and The Milwaukee Sentinel. Her reports mainly focus on activism, race, and reproductive health. She has also published a book during 2019. In 2018, McClain even earned a James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism.
The writing workshop will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Registration for the program will open to the public on Wednesday, August 11 at midnight. Those who wish to join the workshop are required to register for the event in advance. There is no fee to sign up for the activity. People can learn more about McClain and look up her past public appearances by visiting her website.
