Colerain webinar to help people recognize abuse

People in Colerain can attend a webinar offered by YWCA Greater Cincinnati in February about recognizing and helping those in abusive situations.

Recognizing Gender-Based Violence is a program on abusive relationships where teens and adults can learn about how they can help those experiencing abuse. The event is part of the Bettering the World for Women and Girls series and is co-organized by YWCA Greater Cincinnati, the Zonta Club of Cincinnati, and Women Helping Women. Nicole Williams, a representative from YWCA Greater Cincinnati, will discuss the services offered by her organization during the program.

YWCA was founded in London, England during the 1850s. The purpose of the organization is to stand up for social justice and empower women. A few of the programs offered by the group include Career Women of Achievement and the Rising Stars Leadership Program. The association also offers scholarships like the Mamie Earl Sells Scholarship. People can assist the YWCA by volunteering for activities such as yard care, event planning, and cleaning shelters.

The webinar will be held on Thursday, February 9 from noon to 1:00 pm. Registration for the YWCA’s program is free, and all attendees must register in advance for a link to the presentation’s Zoom call. Organizations that put together educational lectures such as this may promote their events to the community with flyer printing.
