What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

Colerain program to help people learn languages

Colerain residents can take a virtual course at the Cincinnati Public Library to learn about two resources that can assist with learning new languages.

The library’s Virtual Explore 101 series will be covering two valuable resources for those interested in other languages. The first website covered by the class is Transparent Language, a site that can assist students with learning more than 100 languages. The products offered by the organization have been used by over 12,000 libraries, companies, and educational institutions. The group has also written multiple white papers, including Language Trends in the Corporate Sector.

The second site that attendees will learn about is Signing Savvy, which is a resource for those interested in American Sign Language. The website offers numerous videos that show how to perform common signs and communicate fingerspelled words. The site also uses quizzes and flashcards to teach people how to sign. The organization was created by a team of educators and is owned by Deaf, CODA, and hearing individuals.

The program on language resources will take place on Wednesday, July 27th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. No payment is required to enter the Zoom room, though attendees need to register to get links for the presentation. Libraries offering educational webinars such as this may use print shops to produce posters that promote the event to their visitors.
