Colerain group to host spring volksmarch
The Germania Society of Cincinnati near Colerain, Ohio will be hosting its annual spring volksmarch this April.
Every year, the Germania Society brings the community together to go on a volksmarch through the rural roads, forests, and meadows of Germania Park. A volksmarch is a leisurely walk that promotes good health and positive relationships with fellow walkers. The walk is non-competitive and will be featuring a 5K and 10K march during the event. Dogs are also welcome to accompany the participants as they walk through the park.
In addition to the volksmarch, the Germania Society will also be serving German refreshments at its ‘klubhaus’. Traditional food such as schnitzel, bratwurst, German pastries, and sauerkraut will be available after the volksmarch is finished, prepared by members of the Germania Society to ensure authenticity. Eight German beers will be on tap for those old enough to drink. The Germania Jagdhornbläser Gruppe will be performing during the festival at the klubhaus.
The spring volksmarch will be held on April 27 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Registration for the event will last until 12:30 pm. The cost to participate in the volksmarch will be $3 per person. Pins for the event can be purchased for $5 as well. Businesses interested in using the klubhaus for themselves can rent the building for meetings or luncheons, and can even use banner printing to bring their decorations for the events.
