Parenting a special needs child comes with a unique set of challenges that may continue on until adulthood, and a Westbury area workshop will help address some of these for parents and other caregivers.
Hillside Library in New Hyde Park has made arrangements to offer a learning opportunity that will supply legal and financial information to families with a special needs child. It will take place online so everyone can enjoy the function from the comfort of their own home, with no registration fee.
During the session, Mitch Weisbrot, CLU and Andre Cohen , Esq., will cover a variety of topics that address the legal and financial considerations of importance when considering the future needs of a child with special physical or developmental challenges. Government benefits, trusts, estate planning, and transitioning to the workforce or day programming will also be discussed.
Community-based workshops like this, and their programming, may offer a helping hand. Many organizations offer kits of information to families of special needs childten, and these may include items prepared by a brochure printing company.
Hillside Library will be hosting this exploration of the financial and legal considerations of parenting an adult child with disabilities on Wednesday April 6. It will start at 6:30 pm, and the joining instructions will be distributed to everyone once they register.
