Westbury’s senior set will be helping to open the winter holiday shopping season with an activity that may help them find a gift for everyone on their shopping list.
The pop-up market on the way for the community will benefit its older adults, helping to keep them engaged and active. It will welcome shoppers for seven hours, with an extensive list of items on the agenda for the day.
People who drop by will be able to stock their cupboards and freezer in the all-homemade bakery area, and they can shop for jewelry that, although second hand, will be as good as new. They can purchase a selection of knitted and crocheted articles, and both money and basket raffles are on the agenda. A huge “White Elephant” area will breathe new life into unwanted and vintage items, and everyone can purchase their lunch on site.
Tables at the pop-up are still available at the time of writing, with the booking fee depending on whether the table indoors or outdoors. Along with selling items, companies can take orders and hand out Business Cards. A call has also gone out for community business sponsors, and anyone interested can call 516-334-5886.
The pre-holiday season shopping party has been organized for Saturday, October 21. It will be popping up at 360 Post Avenue in Westbury.
