Westbury to get a new supply of Australian rock

This weekend, Westbury residents will have the chance to welcome a chart-topping Australian soft rock due to their town.

Air Supply, a band known for the hit singles ‘All Out of Love’ and ‘Lost in Love’ will take the stage at Westbury's NYCB Theater. JD Leonard will open for the band.

The group first formed in Sydney, in 1975, after Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell met at rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar. The pair bonded over their love of singing and the Beatles and soon signed to Australia's CBS Records. A tour with Rod Stewart took them to the U.S.

While the band may be well known to many thanks to seven top-five hits and having sold more than 30 million records, concerts can always benefit from the use of a local printing company for advertising.

The band was one of the first western pop acts to get to tour across China and Taiwan. Russell and Hitchcock also played in Cuba, where they broke attendance records, performing in front of 175,000 people at one concert. To this day, the band plays more than 150 live shows a year.

Tickets to the upcoming show in Westbury are still available from Ticketmaster. Prices range from $29.50 to $59.50, plus service fees. It takes place on August 16, with the show starting at 8:00 pm.
