This year's Westbury B.I.D. street fair is scheduled to take place very soon.
Popular fair activities, including pony rides and a petting zoo, are set to appear. There will also be the usual craft vendors, local business vendors, and food offerings.
What is new for the fair this year is an increase in student and school involvement. Several schools in Westbury will have their own booths or space during the fair. Students from Our Lady of Hope School will show off their musical and theatrical talents in the Piazza Ernesto Strada.
The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts is putting on an art exhibition specifically for student artwork. Students from Carle Place, St. Brigid's, the Long Island High School for the Arts, and Westbury High School are invited to display their art. The council could then use poster printing to spread the word at local schools.
Dawn Blinn, the executive director of Westbury B.I.D., told the Westbury Times:
“We think it’s a really great place to highlight the work of the local students and it’s great to have as many locals from Westbury participate.”
Also new at this year's fair is a game trailer and a number of inflatable rides. There will also be live music throughout the day, courtesy of the Space at Westbury.
The fair takes place along Post Avenue from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm next Saturday, October 15. The rain date is October 22.
