Even though they are often unseen, bats perform an important role in their ecosystem. In recent years, their numbers have been in decline, and a Westbury area walk will give the public the inside scoop on what they can do to help.
Maria Armour is a staff member and senior instructor at Bridgewater State University, and bat biology is one of her areas of expertise. She will be sharing her knowledge with those who register for the Bat Walk, which will visit Old Westbury Gardens and pay a visit to its resident night fliers.
During the walk, Armour will discuss bat ecology and explain how they help to keep the area’s insect population in check. The group will listen for the sounds they make when hunting and navigating in the night, and conservation will also be included in the discussion. The admission price for this event is included in the entry fee to the garden, and all ages are welcome.
Sure to be of interest to local nature lovers, a flyer printing company can help to make sure the public knows when an event like this is taking place in their community. It can also prepare Copies of handouts and other materials to give to each person who attends this sort of function.
The Bat Walk will be paying a visit to Old Westbury Gardens on August 8. The activity is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
