Westbury area set to crown chili champ

Even though the temperatures may be plummeting, the Westbury area will be red hot thanks to a friendly competition to crown the area's Chili Champ.

The Six Harbors Chili Cookoff will see amateur chefs put their recipe to the test, and it will be the first year it has taken place. A trophy with a special graphic design will be presented to the winner, and they will also receive bragging rights when it comes to their dish.

Each person who is interested will need to bring along a crockpot of chili for the attendees to sample. There is no entry fee for the contestants, and tickets for those who would like to serve as a taster for the day are $25 each. They will receive a complimentary drink as well as five-ounce samples from each competitor. When they are finished, they will be invited to cast their ballot for their favorite recipe.

A friendly competition can attract a large crowd of spectators to the business hosted it. Prizes for the winners – as well as tasting glasses, medals and other customized items – will be on offer at a local printing services company.

The Six Harbors Chili Cookoff will bring spicy fun to the area on Sunday, February 5, running from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Six Harbors Brewing Company on New York Avenue, Huntington.
