The students at Summit Lane Elementary school in Levittown had a big goal earlier this month. They wanted to raise $4,000 to donate to the American Heart Association.
Thanks to their efforts, the school exceeded its goal, raising more than $6,500 through the American Heart Association's annual Hoops for Heart and Jump Rope for Heart event. The students might have been spurred on by a promise made by their principal, Keith Squillacioti. If the school reached or surpassed $4,000, Mr. Squilliacioti promised to let the students throw paint at him.
The painting took place during an assembly. The three students from each class who raised the most money picked a dry paint color to toss on their principal. At the end of the event, the principal's T-shirt was covered in a rainbow of hues. Principal Squilliacioti wasn't the only faculty member to get painted that day, with a few other teachers joining the fun.
Along with letting the students paint the principal, the school can recognize those who participated with the help of Stationery printers, who can create certificates. In total, 220 students worked to raise the money this year, nearly tripling the $2,500 they raised last year.
Two students, Chris Pelletier and Anthony Ventrelli, raised $300 or more each, while Vincent Horan raised $290. Thomas Kruk, Jaren Reiter, Peter Roidis, and Cody Havlik were among the top fundraisers, too.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
