Schools and community organizations in Levittown invited to apply for grant

The application period is currently open for the Environmental Grant Program, sponsored by New York American Water.

The grant gives a school, nonprofit, corporate, or municipal organization up to $10,000 to fund sustainable and innovative projects that aim to restore, improve or protect watersheds, groundwater, or surface water. To qualify for the grant, the project must take place within the service area of New York American Water, which includes Levittown.

Employees of New York American Water choose who will receive the grants. They look at a variety of criteria when picking the most worthy project, including the goals of the project, the impact it will have, its design and innovation, how much it engages the community, and whether it is sustainable. The company has released a press release announcing the application period, and could use Brochures to further explain the goals and purpose of the grants.

In the press release, Brian Bruce, the president of New York American Water, stated:

"Safeguarding our water supply and environment for the future should be our highest priority. We know many groups and individuals are making efforts to protect this most vital resource and we are excited for the opportunity to help support those initiatives.”

Projects that are eligible need to be carried out by a partnership (either formal or informal) between at least two organizations. New projects are welcome, as are expansions of current projects. Eligible projects should be completed between May 1 and November 30 this year.

The deadline for applications is April 1 and recipients will be notified later that month.
