At the end of last month, Adults and Children with Learning and Development Disabilities (ACLD) held its annual Employment Recognition Breakfast.
The breakfast, which was the 31st annual one held by the group, took place at Carlyle on the Green, in nearby Farmingdale. Held each year during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a highlight of the breakfast is the awards given to businesses that hire people with disabilities, and to special needs employees who make great strides in the workplace. Organizations that put together awards ceremonies can use Stationery printers to create the certificates and other awards.
ACLD began in 1957 and currently serves more than 3,000 adults, teens, and children with autism, learning disabilities, and other developmental disabilities. It has 80 program sites and employs more than 1,000 people in Suffolk and Nassau counties.
One of this year's honorees was Levittown's James Duffy, who received the Community Partnership Award. Duffy is the chairman for the Levittown-Island Trees VFW Post 9592 Military Assitance Program. He earned the award thanks to his contributions to Duffy's Band of Angels, a group that assembles care packages and sends them to troops overseas. The members of the group are made up of volunteers from ACLD.
Around 150 people from more than 100 of ACLD's Vocational Program partners were present at the awards breakfast.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
