Levittown high school publishes children's book

Few people return to their elementary schools later in life, and even fewer do so as published authors able to share their hard work with students, but that's the exactly the experience Sydney Schneider recently got to have.

Now a senior at General Douglas MacArthur High School in the Levittown School District, Schneider visited Gardiners Avenue Elementary school, her old school, at the beginning of the month.

She visited to share her recently published book, ‘Chip and Dip’, with third through fifth grade students at the school. Schneider wrote the book for a school assignment back when she was in eighth grade. The book was published through Blurb – a website-based publishing platforms.

During her visit with students, Schneider read the book, discussed the story and talked about her process as a writer. She showed the students the original assignment that got turned into the book and read them an entry from her journal, which she wrote when she was in fifth grade.

Schools often printing companies to encourage young writers to create stories and Books. Schneider explained that the point of her visit was to inspire the students and to help them realize that they can accomplish whatever they put their minds to.

It was not only the students who were excited about Schneider's visit; many of her former elementary school teachers stopped into say hello while she was there.
