Catonsville plans market with gardeners in mind

For many gardeners, October is a time to put their plants to bed for the winter, and a local event will help them with this task.

Catonsville Cooperative Market will be giving area plant lovers an opportunity to do some shopping, and while they do, they will be given the opportunity to learn and meet other home horticulturists. Whether they have a green thumb or are just getting started, there will be lots to browse through, and kids are welcome.

Those who plan on attending the gathering are encouraged to bring along extra seeds to swap, and they may also be able to exchange any extra perennial divisions they have from their own garden. The co-op market will be open, and there will also be food and drinks available for purchase.

This rain-or-shine activity will be held during the morning hours, and the usual $5 fee for non-members of the co-op will be waived. Signage that can help to keep a pop-up function running smoothly can be ordered for an event from local banner printing companies.

The Catonsville Co-op Fall Plant & Seed Swap Celebration will welcome both experienced and newbie home gardeners on Saturday, October 19. It is scheduled for 1905 Edmondson Avenue between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon, although it may be shortened by one hour in case of rain.
