Catonsville helps expand tree canopy

Catonsville residents have been offered the opportunity to lend Mother Nature a helping hand and have fun at the same time when they hit the dancefloor during a fundraiser this weekend.

The crew at the Catonsville Tree Canopy Project has taken on the task of planting and maintaining the tree canopy in Catonsville and the communities that surround it. Its Tree Hugger Dance will provide a way for the public to support its work for an admission fee of $40.

Those who purchase tickets for the occasion will be treated to tunes provided by The Dave Phenicie Band, and both single and table-of-eight passes can be purchased. All monies raised will be used to buy both new trees to install and also tools and other equipment to help give them a good start. While they have fun, attendees can learn more about how they may get involved.

A dance or other grassroots-style activity can be effective at raising both funds and awareness. Decor, vendor contracts, signage, and materials that provide details about how the funds raised will make an impact can be ordered for an event from a printing services provider.

The Tree Hugger Dance will be doing a good turn for the local environment this Saturday, November 7 at 1610 Old Sulphur Spring Road in Arbutus. It runs from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm and tickets are available on its Patch listing.
