Members of Catonsville Rails to Trails, and volunteers from Oak Crest, are teaming up to clean up the #8 Streetcar Path, and are looking for others to join them.
Volunteers will be taking ivy down from trees, stacking limbs, raking trails, filling a dumpster, and picking up the debris found in the woods next to a senior facility. Attendees should wear boots or sturdy shoes, as well as long-sleeved tops, but the event organizers will provide work gloves. The #8 Streetcar Path is a 0.4 mile-long, paved trail that connects Edmondson Avenue and Frederick Road.
Catonsville Rails to Trails, Inc., (CRTT) seeks to bring organizations, businesses, and individuals who live or work in Great Catonsville together, uniting everyone around the goal of promoting a healthier lifestyle. CRTT does this by enhancing walking, hiking, and biking trails to make them more walkable. It also wants neighborhoods to be places where people enjoy walking, and works to achieve all this by creating and maintaining safe and accessible trails everyone can enjoy. Organizers of events like this might consider distributing Promotional Products to volunteers, both to promote the group and to say thank you.
The cleanup is set for 9:00 am until 12:00 noon this Saturday, April 6. After the event is over, everyone is invited to enjoy Scittino's pizza, along with as much fresh water as they can drink. Community Service Hours, as well as Service Learning Hours, are available to participants.
