Palatine Stables to construct new hay barn

Due to safety concerns and operational issues, Palatine Stables has been given the approval to begin construction on a new hay barn.

The Village of Hoffman Estates’ city council agreed to a local ordnance change which allows Palatine Stables to build a 6000-square-foot barn. The site for the new barn is close to Dundee Road. The stable used to store its hay close to where the horses and ponies stayed, however, this was deemed to be a health hazard for the horses because of all the dust.

12,000 bales of hay are expected to be housed in the new structure. Estimates for building the new barn put the construction cost at $250,000. Contractors can put in bids for the project and the final approval will be made in October.

The new barn will be the third major building in the Palatine Stables complex. The other two buildings are the lower barn and the main building. 30 horses owned by private individuals are kept there along with 9 ponies and 25 horses which are owned by the district and used to give riding lessons. Allowing a new barn to be built will free up space for more riding lessons.

When companies make large changes, printing services can be used to let their members or potential visitors know about their improvements.

The equestrian facility is one of the stables’ biggest earners. It specializes in providing services for horse shows, lessons, pony parties, training and a festival in the fall.
