While the warm days of may be reaching an end, the cooler days of autumn can be ideal for planting trees and shrubs, and an Alpharetta workshop will teach techniques that can lead to gardening success.
The Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission will be hosting the session, which will cover a lot of areas that relate to fall planting. Led by a Master Gardener, the class will teach how to choose the right shrub or tree for a particular location, and how to prepare the soil so that it will give the new garden addition the best chance for success.
Time will also be spent on a discussion of how to best care for trees and shrubs in the home landscape, including mulching, fertilizing, watering how to move and replant them should it be necessary. Booklet printing can be used to create simple gardening Journals that can be distributed to each person who participates in this type of function.
The Alpharetta Public Works department, which can be found at 1790 Hembree Road, will act as the venue for the workshop, which is being offered free of charge. It is one of a series of garden related events that have been planned for the local community.
The ‘Fall is the Best Time to Plant Trees and Shrubs’ seminar will be held on October 18. Everyone is welcome, and more information about the event can be found on the city’s website.
