Those living and doing business in Alpharetta will have the opportunity to get their sensitive documents shredded at no cost at the Alpharetta Department of Public Works.
Those in Alpharetta who are concerned about simply throwing important papers in the trash can bring their medical history papers, bank statements, or other documents of a confidential nature and have them shredded for free, up to a maximum of five Boxes. At the end of the day, the mobile on-site shredder, will remove the paper waste, now unidentifiable down to the Letterheads on the invoices and letters, and deliver it for recycling.
Although there is no fee for the shredding, the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission is asking that participants bring one canned food item per box of documents. The food collected will go to the Community Charities Food Bank of North Fulton for distribution to county residents in need.
A Computer and Electronics Recycling Collection will be held in conjunction with the paper shredding opportunity and both are scheduled to take place at 1790 Hembree Road from 8:30 am until 12:00 noon on September 25. The shredding will stop once the truck is full, so it is advisable to arrive early.
Face mask wearing is requested of those coming to the event. Participants are asked to stay in their cars as operators will unload their documents for them.
