The Old Soldiers Day Race and Parade is taking place next month in Alpharetta.
The event originally began as a tribute to veterans of the Civil War but now recognizes all veterans.
The 38th annual road race will travel from the Old Milton Parkway to the Alpharetta Community Center and begin at 7:00 am. This is an 8K race and fees are $24 until July 29 and $30 on the day of the race. Participants can pick up their packages, which will include a T-shirt, at the Alpharetta Community Center on August 3 and 4. The top male and female finishers will receive a $50 gift card while the top finishers in each age group will receive a dog tag race medal.
The celebrations will begin at 9:15 am with a marching band, memorial service, and then the 64th annual parade. Viewing will be available at a grandstand on Roswell Street or spectators can bring their own chairs and blankets. The parade will finish off at the American Legion Post 201, where there will be free hot dogs and drinks, as well as family activities.
Alpharetta printing companies are often asked to provide items like Banners and flags for events such as these.
The event will be held on August 6. To learn more about these events, call 678-297-6000.
