Columbia Design Services has been handed a $2m contract by the City of Alpharetta for the redesign of a portion of the North Point Parkway located between Hanes Bridge Roads and Mansell.

Per the contract, Columbia Design Services will design a “typical section” for the parkway that will focus on serving pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit while accommodating future traffic needs.

A road redesign requires Print shops to be called upon to scan and Print several sets of Blueprints to ensure that the multiple departments involved each have a thorough understanding of the project as a whole and their part in it.

This represents the next stage of the implementation of the Alpharetta North Point Livable Centers Initiative’s planned improvements. The Initiative is an effort to create and bring forth a new vision for the area surrounding North Point Mall based on the following four basic goals.

• Implementing a “park once walk everywhere” environment by creating a more walkable area by focusing on connectivity and green spaces
• Enacting parallel multimodal connections to North Point Parkway
• Encourage redevelopment of large swaths of underutilized parking surfaces
• Making changes to balance the district’s retail content
