Pompano Beach to teach certification course on catering

The City of Pompano Beach Job Placement Center will be organizing a class in January to help people gain certificates in the catering industry.

Culinary: Catering Business Essentials is a five-day program from Broward College that teaches students the necessary skills for a successful career in catering. The lessons taught during the catering course include how to organize kitchens, cook for large crowds, and plan Menus for events. Those in the program will also learn about managing human resources, executing contracts, and basic accounting principles. The course is only available to people who live in Pompano Beach.

The Pompano Beach Job Placement Center is a resource that assists small businesses and helps with creating more occupations in the community. The organization helps jobseeking locals in several ways, like hosting informative workshops and organizing job fairs. Employers can also use the job placement center to assist with writing job descriptions and recruiting potential candidates for positions. Beneficial community groups like this may use Print shops to promote their services in public settings.

The culinary certification course will take place in January on the 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th. Students must attend all dates in the catering program to be eligible for the certificate. There is no fee to join. Each lesson will be held at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.
