The Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department will organize a two-day jazz experience in January.
Jazz Fest Pompano Beach is an annual event where attendees can hear performances from talented musicians. Many performers will be attending the fest, like Nanny Assis, Dixie Kings, and Yainer Horta. There will also be a concert held by the Student Vocal Studio that is directed by Dr. Lisanne Lyons. The festival will take place at two locations, including The Great Lawn and Old Town Pompano Beach. People may bring blankets and chairs to the jazz shows.
The headlining acts for the upcoming festival are Spyro Gyra and David Sanborn. Spyro Gyra is a group led by Jay Beckenstein that has been performing for over 40 years. The band has created albums such as The Rhinebeck Sessions and Got the Magic. David Sanborn is an award-winning saxophonist who has released 24 albums throughout his career. Sanborn has won six Grammy Awards and gained praise from Rolling Stone.
The jazz festival will be held on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21. There is no cost to view the concerts, though people can pay extra for VIP tickets. Attendees with VIP seating will receive a swag bag, wristband, and a complimentary drink ticket.
