The Bailey Contemporary Arts Center in Pompano Beach will offer a course in August on making ceramic tiles.
The Handmade Ceramic Tiles Workshop is a multi-day program where students can construct and decorate their own tiles. The activity will be organized by the Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department and led by Sonata Kazimieraitiene. The first class in the event will teach students about the uses of decorative ceramic tiles, and the second lesson will involve making the tiles. The creations will be glazed during the third class.
Kazimieraitiene is an artist and instructor from Brookfield, Illinois who has been working as a mosaicist and ceramic artist at Manotiles for two decades. She has also been involved with many art projects, such as the Lincoln School Lakescape Mural, where she got to work with over 500 children while making the school’s mural. She even worked on the Main St. Mural with the Chicago Public Art Group and Open Studio Project.
The ceramic tiles workshop will be on August 5, August 12, and August 19 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The cost to attend Kazimieraitiene’s art class is $100 per person. The program is suitable for artists of all ages who have an interest in crafts and ceramics. Lessons offered at arts centers like this may use flyer printing for marketing aimed at local artists.
