Lighthouse tour promotes Pompano Beach history
History lovers will want to grab their gear and lather on the sunscreen, as a boat and walking tour is set to explore a Pompano Beach landmark.
The Hillsboro Lighthouse Tour is preparing to embark on an adventure next month, and area residents looking for opportunities to learn more about Pompano Beach’s history are invited to sign up. The tour’s itinerary will take ticket holders on a boat ride across the bay, where they will arrive at the lighthouse’s grounds.
The lighthouse, which was first illuminated in 1907, was commissioned by the government to act as a guiding light to shipping vessels traveling through the Florida Straits toward the Gulf of Mexico or Cuba. It has a long history of withstanding strong and violent storms and hurricanes while standing as a guide to travelers and ocean-going ships. Brochure printing is a superb way to promote such events and provide interested parties with all the details.
Guests will have the chance to climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse upon arrival at the grounds. Seating on the boat is first-come, first-served. Children must be 4 feet or taller to join, and close-toed shoes are required.
The tour will embark at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 17th. Ticket holders will meet at the North of Sands Harbor Resort and Marina in Pompano Beach. Tickets are $35 per person.
