The Broward County Library will be holding a virtual program in February that Pompano Beach families can enjoy.
The 4th Annual Japanese Traditional Music Program provides both children and adults with a lesson exploring Japanese history through traditional instruments and expert demonstrations. The event is presented by the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens and Japanese Culture Promotion and Management. Featured instruments in the program include the koto, biwa, and Japanese lute. A Q&A session will be held when the presentation is finished.
The music program will be presented by Joseph Gashō Amato and Kazuyuki Shiotaka. Amato formally studied Japanese music history and Japanese traditional instruments at Seiha Hōgaku-kai. Shiotaka is a solo concert-style performer who has composed more than 450 music compositions and played at noteworthy venues such as London City University and Stockholm University. The traditional music program will be held on Friday, February 12.
