The exhibit ‘From ordinary to extraordinary: paper as art’, which opened in May, is continuing in Del Ray until the end of August.
This unique showcase demonstrates all the possibilities of paper and what a talented artist can do with it. Featuring 75 works by 16 artists from all over the world, there are examples of paper sculptures (including a lifestyle sculpture called ‘Linda Dogwalker’), collages, drawings, paper cutting, and sculpted and carved Books.
Among the artists featured in this exhibition are Will Kurtz (who is the creator of the above mentioned sculpture), Beth Appleton, Brian Detmer, and Matthew Rose.
The exhibit will show people the versatility of this everyday material, and that it can be used to create distinctive art. It may be of interest to those in surrounding area, including Pompano Beach, who work for printing companies or graphic designers. No doubt many of them will get some ideas from viewing the works and will try to integrate what they have learned into their own work
The exhibit is running at the Cornell Museum of Arts and American Culture until August 24. Admission is $5 for adults, and he museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm each day.
