Arts festival delivers slam poetry to Pompano Beach

An arts festival is coming to Pompano Beach, bringing local artists and poets together for a creative event and celebration.

The Southern Fried Poetry Slam will stop in Pompano Beach in a few weeks, and art enthusiasts are invited to join the festivities and add to the creative atmosphere. The performing arts festival will celebrate the spoken word and poetry while focusing on community outreach in the Pompano Beach area. The festival, which began in 1993, aims to bring a sense of family and home-cooked meals for attendees to indulge in.

In addition to poetry and performances, guests will enjoy access to Southern-style cooking. Previously held in such locations as Knoxville and Lewisville, Pompano Beach is 2024’s host city, with poets competing for prizes and artists displaying their skills before a large audience. Flyer printing is an excellent way to reach a broad demographic and build awareness for such community outreach events.

Over 200 poets and artists are expected to compete at the 2024 iteration of the festival, with cash and other prizes on the line. Attendees can also hone their skills at the festival’s workshops.

The Pompano Beach Cultural Center will host the festival starting on June 12 and ending on June 15. The opening ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, and tickets are available online at $15 per person.
