Scott Dennis, who was the Police Chief for North Miami, has stepped down after 30 years of service.
During his time in law enforcement in the North Miami Beach area, Dennis served many roles, including two as the Chief of Police. He was recognized with a ceremony held on September 21. A spokesperson for the city, Nicole Gomez, noted that he has an extended record of helping to protect the people of South Florida, and that the city manager wanted to say thank you to him for everything he has done in the service of his community.
Stepping in to the role as Interim Police Chief is Deputy Chief William Hernandez, who has also been involved the field for many years. He will remain in that position until a permanent replacement to fill the vacancy left by Chief Dennis has been found. In the meantime, Gomez stated that Hernandez will focus on the strategic plan the city has set up, as it relates to public safety. The city manager has not clarified as yet whether the new permanent chief of police will be hired internally, or whether recruiters will look outside the organization to find the right person for the job. However, they are looking into the possibility standing up a board that will aid in the selection process.Get a Free Quote for Letterheads
