North Miami Beach has a new chief of police.
William Hernandez has served in the role of interim chief of police since former Chief Scott Dennis retired in September. Chief Dennis had been a member of the law enforcement community for more than three decades.
Chief Hernandez has served in the role of deputy chief in North Miami Beach starting back in March of 2014. Before that, he worked with the police department in Miami-Dade for 26 years. He was originally from California, and received his education from Nova Southeastern University. He holds an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and his Master’s is in leadership and management.
City Manager Ana M. Garcia released a statement that remarked that the new appointee will fit in well with the current administration’s vision of being “one team with one vision and one mission”. A business card printing company will be able to provide him with new Business Cards, as well as customized Letterheads and any other printed materials that will help him to be fully effective in his new job.
Outside of his daily work, the newly appointed police chief has founded the HPOA Foundation, which provides support to those in law enforcement who have been injured or killed in the line of duty, as well as their families. He has also been the past president of the Hispanic Police Officers' Association.
