New complex planned for North Miami Beach area

If things go as they plan, developers will soon begin construction of a project in the North Miami Beach area that will provide housing that’s both affordable and appeals to seniors.

The project will be considered by the city’s Planning Commission, and has been submitted by local developer Pinnacle Housing Group. The location they selected to potentially build their new Verbena project is on eight parcels of land situated at the northwest corner of Northeast 6th Avenue and Northeast 135th Street.

The piece of property is currently owned by Conestoga holdings Marie Petit-Frere, Joshua Tree Real Estate and Marie L. Joseph. According to city documents, the developer has them under contract and has taken the step of filing the development application.

The proposed build would be one eight-story structure that would have 92 units for seniors and another seven-story building that contains 99 apartments. At least 48 of the dwellings would be affordable housing. This would make them available to those making less than 60 percent of the median income for the area. The units would range between one and four bedrooms. A printing company can use its digital copying technology to create large size Copies of the artist’s conceptual drawings of the completed building’s interior and exterior. These can be included in promotional packages to be given to stakeholders in the project and community members.

Plans for the development also include public art, a playground, a computer lab and a fitness center.
