The annual Art Deco weekend is taking place over three days this January in Miami Beach. It is a presentation of the Miami Design Preservation League.
The theme of this year's event is ‘100 years of History’ and it will be a showcase of the last 100 years of the city. The weekend will be filled with activities that should appeal to everyone's tastes. There will be jazz music from such performers as The Decolones and Sarah Jane and the Blue Notes, a classic car parade, and a fashion show.
A street fair is set to feature vendors who will be selling anything related to Art Deco. Applications are still being accepted and fees range from $500 up to $1,200. An outdoor film series will be showing such films as ‘Miami Vice’ and ‘The Birdcage’.
There will also be a children's area, a danceathon, lectures on Art Deco, and swing dancing demonstrations. The Arf Deco parade will let participants dress their dogs up in costume and win prizes for "most deco dog", or dog and owner lookalikes.
People from the area, including North Miami Beach, will no doubt want to take part in this fun-filled weekend. The official poster advertising it may have been produced with the help of local Print companies.
