The International Ballet Festival of Miami will return this summer with a format that combines live streams and in-person dance events.
The festival will bring over 100 world-class dancers from around the world to the Miami area. This will include a number of ballet workshops held throughout the festival’s three-week run, and several gala presentations. There will be four “Contemporary Performance” series, one taking place on the streets of Miami Beach and the others in venues around the counties. The festival will conclude with a pair of more classical gala performances, which will also include the awarding of the “A Life for Dance” Lifetime Achievement Award and “Criticism and Culture of Ballet” Award.
The festival also includes a number of events focusing on the culture and practice of dance, such as a series of interviews to be live-streamed on the festival’s Facebook page, screenings of dance-related films, and readings of Books by dance critics and writers. The goal is to provide a fuller picture of the world of ballet and contemporary dance to people in Miami, and surrounding areas like North Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Events like this have adopted a combination of time-tested promotional tools like poster printing, and new methods like social media and live streaming over recent years.
The International Ballet Festival of Miami kicks off on Saturday, July 24 and will run until August 15 at various Miami-Dade venues.
