Forum teaches how to have a healthier workplace

The 4th annual South Florida Worksite Wellness Forum and Awards will take place at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa Hotel on April 20 from 8 am-2:30 pm. Tickets are $65 for breakfast and the morning session, $65 for the luncheon and afternoon session or $110 for the whole day.

The forum is entitled “How Wellness Works” and will feature door prizes, giveaways, several network opportunities and two workshops. The workshops being presented are

“Selling wellness to your CFO” by Jim Wachtel

and

“Legal dos and don’ts of workplace wellness” by Peter J. Marathas.

The awards luncheon will be emceed by Cynthia Demos of CBS-4 and will feature keynote speaker Michael O’Donnell who will talk about “Financial benefits to worksite wellness.”

Nominations are being accepted for the awards until March 26. The awards strive “to recognize the important strides that local businesses have made in improving employee health and wellness.” Any company in the Miami Beach area, including North Miami Beach, can nominate themselves if they feel they meet the criteria. Winning will give a company an excuse to change their next Stationery printing or business card order to highlight that they are dedicated to employee wellness.

A lot of work hours and days are lost to sickness every year costing American companies millions of dollars. It is in the best interest of every company that they support wellness programs. These can include something as simple as stress reduction classes or encouraging employees to go for a walk during their lunch hour.
