Roseville folks worried about the future of energy or the environment might want to learn more about solar energy, and an upcoming series of camps hopes to address these concerns.
The city is offering a series of summer camps this year, all aiming to show how solar works, what can be done with it, and where the technology is heading. Some just for the kids, while others are for adults too.
One is called Get Energized, and it’s for the whole family, individuals, or even groups of friends.
The idea behind the camp is to get people acquainted with solar energy in a friendly, hands-on sort of way. Guides and instructors will offer lessons and help campers actually build things, like a solar race car that can be entered into races with other campers, or cooking a meal in a solar oven.
Experts will also offer advice on ways to help keep the family and the home cool during the summer. Families may want to have banner printing done to represent their car in the race.
The Camp will be held Saturday, June 27th at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville from 10am until 2pm. The camp is free but there will be a materials fee for building the race car. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to sign up early, as the number of enrollees is limited.
