Roseville loves a parade

The City of Roseville, the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Roseville Partnership will be presenting the 58th Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade in November. Over 4,000 spectators turn out along the parade route annually.

The holiday procession will include horses, dance teams, floats, and bands. Entries will be judged in one of three categories – general, equestrian, and business/commercial. Businesses that take part in parades like this usually get some banner printing done beforehand so they will have Banners introducing them to the spectators.

The parade route will begin on Vernon Street at the Rock in downtown Roseville and end behind Roseville Commons in Roseville Square’s north lot.

Booths selling holiday merchandise, food, and crafts will set up along the streets in Downtown Roseville. They will open for business at 9:00 am and remain available until 1:00 pm. Nonprofits will be handing out information about their programs and services. Santa will be there to hear little ones’ Christmas wishes.

The parade was named after Silvia Besana, a native of Roseville who was an educator, community leader, and counselor. The city has also honored her by naming a local park after her and setting up the Silvia Besana Community Volunteer Award. The award is given annually to local recipients that have demonstrated leadership and integrity in their volunteer service.

The 58th annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade event will be Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm in Downtown Roseville. The parade itself will begin at 10:30 am.
