Roseville gardeners attend workshops

Roseville gardeners are heading to workshops at the Utility Exploration Center for ideas to improve their gardens and orchards.

Arborists from around the area will discuss fruit trees from planting to harvest. Proper pruning will be a major topic. This will be given at 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. this Saturday, January 19, from 10:00 am until noon.

Cutting shrubs and trees will also be the topic of discussion at the Pruning with Purpose workshops. Local experts will discuss the proper techniques and purpose of pruning. Guests will explore cutting and pruning tools and learn how and where to make the appropriate cuts during this event, which will be on January 22 and February 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The Healthy Garden Begins with Soil workshop will teach guests how to enrich garden dirt. Attendees are invited to bring samples of their native soil (excluding any topsoil) for testing and enrichment suggestions. The workshop will be February 9 from 10:00 am until noon.

The eight-week series called Green Gardener at Home begins January 29 at 6:30 pm, and will be taught by landscaping professionals, and Master Gardeners. Topics to be covered will be improving the health of the soil, selecting, maintaining and designing landscape, fertilizing, mulching, and composting.

All workshops require early registration. Attendees will no doubt be gathering the lecturers’ Business Cards to contact them at a later date if they have questions not covered in the workshops.
