Roseville dances the polka

The 30th Annual Polish Festival will be in full swing early in September as the Polish American Club of Sacramento Inc. celebrates the Polish culture through traditional music, food and drink. Organizers estimate that more than 1500 people will attend this free family-friendly affair.

Food options to buy will include potato pancakes, ice cream bigos (hunter’s stew), and meat, cheese and vegetable pierogi. Guests may opt to purchase Babcia’s Polish Dinners which will be Kielbasa, golabki (stuffed cabbage rolls) and pierogi.

The air-conditioned ballroom will have continuous music for polka dancing. Other entertainment will include the Jim Shoemaker Duo, Chet Chwlik’s Polka Band, Kuzyni, the Sacramento Ukrainian Veselka Dancers and the Bay Area Polish Lowiczanie & Sokoly Dancers.

Vendors will be on site selling Polish-themed items such as handmade crafts, Baltic Amber, sausages and souvenirs.

Guests are encouraged to bid in the silent auction and purchase raffle tickets. Contributors to this year’s silent auction are Grebitus Jewelry and Fine Gifts, Amber Collection Inc., Thyme to Unwind, Bacchus House Bistro and the Sierra View Country Club. Other items have been donated by Driven Cellars, Iverson Vineyards & Winery and Schmitz 24 Brix.

A photo booth featuring a “Polish princess” will be available for commemorative photos. People that get photos at events such as this often take the pictures to local Stationery printers to be included in yearly family Calendars.

The 30th Annual Polish Festival will take place September 7th starting at noon at 327 Main Street.
