Roseville celebrates bikes

In a few days next month the City of Roseville will be holding its 22 Annual Roseville Bikefest, celebrating its status as a bicycle friendly community.

This will once again be a free family bicycle safety extravaganza. Although geared more for children, it will be fun for the whole family. The event will be free but the refreshments will not ,so it may be wise to bring some cash.

Young bike riders in the community will want to bring their bikes so they can participate in either the beginner or the intermediate obstacle courses. Cyclers can have their bikes inspected for safety and can also have their helmets inspected to see if they fit properly. Riding experts will be holding riding demonstrations, and there will be special appearances by McGruff the Crime Dag, Red E Fox the 9-1-1 Mascot, and members of the Roseville’s Fire and Police Departments.

Children will probably want to get some of the bike-related giveaways, and there will be plenty of entertainment throughout the morning. Those who champion bicycle safety may want to get some flyer or poster printing done to get the word out locally.

The festivities are scheduled for this Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 am until noon on the Vernon Street Town Square, 311 Vernon Street, Roseville. Nearby parking garages will have lots of free parking.
