The City of Irvine is celebrating its 24th year of its Global Village Festival this October at Great Park.
Art, music, food and a celebration of the community’s diverse heritage will all be part of the festivities, with all ages welcome to attend.
A world theme, including through marketplace amenities and cuisine, is threaded throughout the festival. Local eats, art and entertainment ties together the celebration with a global scope.
From multicultural traditions to music and dance performances, there’s a variety to choose from on stage and in the food sphere.
Handmade goods are available at the global marketplace, as well as a Junior Makers section with child entrepreneurs.
Traditional dresses, history exhibits and art displays will also be part of the festivities.
There’s also a Kids Village with interactive displays and crafts for children. A Sports and Games Arena also has activities and educational displays about the origins of common sports. A Great Park Balloon and Carousel ride is also available for children.
The festival began in 1988 when a group of residents wanted to create a multicultural celebration.
