Geology tour to continue in February

The Ocean Institute in Dana Point will continue offering its geology tours in February. The event is titled A Story Written in Stone: Harbor Geology Tour.

Participants will learn about the 15-million-year process that shaped their geological surroundings. An instructor will teach participants about the geological history around the Ocean Institute, and Print shops will be utilized to help produce learning materials. These materials will help participants learn about the rock layers and other structures within the institute’s vicinity. After the tour, participants will also have the chance to look at sediment samples and discuss how the ocean transports sediments.

The event organizers ask that participants follow COVID-19 regulations. All entrants over the age of two are required to wear face covering. To keep participants safe, the Ocean Institute has ensured that all facilities are sanitized. Hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer will also be made available.

The tour will take place beginning on February 6th, 2021 and will be made available every subsequent Saturday of the month. Each tour will last one hour between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. Anyone interested can register on Ocean Institute’s website, and tickets are priced at $10. Children under the age of three can attend the tour for free. Also, members registered at the Ocean Institute can receive a 10% discount on tickets.
