Dana Point will hold its yearly Turkey Trot, a tradition that dates back 43 years.
Due to the pandemic, the race will not follow its usual procedures. Runners are expected to find their own routes and partake in the event virtually. This change will allow entrants to pace themselves, but if they do want to measure themselves against others, the organizers will provide an Active Experience App. The application will allow runners to time themselves and post their results online to compare with other participants.
Before the event, the organizers are asking entrants to pick up a package for the race. This will include a medal, race shirt, a virtual bag of Promotional Products, and access to the Active Experience App.
The pickup location is Dana Point Harbor. Participants are also encouraged to donate to any of the charities supporting the race.
Those interested in the race can register online. They will have the choice of choosing between 5K, 10K, and 15K races. There is also an option for children age twelve and under. Regardless of which option is selected, the registration fee is $25. Also, because the race is virtual this year, the event organizers encourage participation from runners outside the local region. The organizers will also ship the pickup package to outside participants.
The event will take place on November 26, and racers can start at any time during this day.
