An event that may help to smash the stigma surrounding youth mental health will be offered at a venue located in Dana Point, and parents, kids, and anyone else with an interest in the subject is welcome.
Dana Point’s Ocean Institute will be providing space for The Talk, which is a town hall-style activity focused on discussing mental health. According to the listing, this is important as one in five teenagers is living with this issue, and only half of these are receiving adequate support.
During the session, attendees will sit in on presentations given by young people, parents, and professionals in their field. The panel discussions will be offered in both English and Spanish, and to help make the function accessible to as many families as possible, free childcare will be available and refreshments will be served. As the event will take place at the Ocean Institute, ticketholders will be able to spend some time at its touch tanks, free of charge.
One of the goals of a community discussion is often to raise awareness and receive input from the public. A poster printing company will be pleased to aid in marketing a function throughout the area in which it will be held.
This opportunity to openly discuss mental illness will be offered on May 10. It will begin at 6:30 pm, and it is free to RSVP.
