Maison Café and Market opened recently in Dana Point.
Chef Danielle Kuhn designed it to have a homely
atmosphere. She has worked in the restaurant industry since her teens, and one
of the restaurants she worked at was Cannons Seafood Grill. There, she learned
management skills and how to run a restaurant.
The name Maison means ‘home’ in French. Chef Kuhn wanted the customers to feel
like they are at home when they are served a meal. Her recipes incorporate a
variety of world cuisines.
Only local sourced organic produce and ingredients are
used in Maison’s dishes, and the wine list has organic and sustainable wines
and organic beer.
Another myth that Chef Kuhn wanted to dispel was that good food cannot be
healthy food. The eatery does not do not serve fried food, and only uses olive
or coconut oil for cooking. Butter comes from grass-fed cows.
The breakfast menu has scrambled eggs and omelets, as
well as oats, polenta, granola, organic berries, fresh squeezed juices, and
toast.
Lunch options include salads, fresh fish, pasta, chicken, and desserts, while
thee dinner menu has fresh salads, appetizers, and main entrees such as fish,
pasta, flat iron steak, chicken coq au van blanc, and risotto. With paintings
on the value, the venue might interest those with artistic and graphic design
leanings too.
The Maison Café and Market is located at 34320 Pacific Coast Highway. The coffee
shop is open Tuesday thru Sunday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and restaurant from
Tuesday through Saturday.
