If things go as planned, Burbank may soon have high-speed train service, and the state has allocated funds to help with the initial planning stages for the project.
The $800,000 in funding comes from the California High-Speed Rail Authority. It will be used to investigate three possible locations for stations, the potential for spin-off benefits for the surrounding communities, and finding the best ways to integrate the high-speed rail into the existing local transit system.
Two sites that are being considered are just northeast of Bob Hope Airport between North Hollywood Way and the runway. Another possibility is a location west of Hollywood Way of Fernando Boulevard.
According to officials with the project, the final location for the station will be determined during the process of performing the environmental review. A company that prints Presentation Folders would be able to produce ones to contain information about the project that can be given to the stakeholders. This could include artists’ concept drawings of what the final building could look like, the results of the environmental review, statistics about potential ridership, and the budget for the plan.
If it is built, the facility would be able to accommodate a wide range of transportation methods. These would include high-speed rail, the Metrolink and Amtrak commuter railroads, buses, and also taxis and different ride share options, such as van and car pools. Uber and Lyft would also be allocated a space.
